£ 10 million bid for Arshavin?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hunting Europe for new players, and are now closing in on a Russian forward

Russian forward Andrei Arshavin is, according to Daily Mirror, close to becoming an Arsenal player if a bid of £ 10 million is accepted by his club Zenit St Petersburg.

Arshavin might not be the most known player in Europe, but his abillity to play in a number of positions and the fact that he has been such a great success under Guus Hiddink and was included in the Euro 2008 squad despite the fact that he couldn't play in the first two games of the tournement.

Arshavin impressed heavilly in his first and Russia's 3rd game of the tournement, when they hammered Sweden 2-0 and went through to the quarter finals.

Arshavin (27) has been loyal to his club Zenit where he started his career in 2000, playing more than 200 league games for the Russian 2008 UEFA Cup winner.
