Gilberto to Greek Club

Gilberto Silva has agreed a reported three-year deal with Henk Ten Cate's Panathinaikos with Arsenal turning down offers from other clubs.

The Sun reports that the Brazilian midfielder have accepted a £1million bid from the Greek giants for the 31-year-old defensive midfielder, who had also been interesting Everton but the Toffees’ bid is said to be rejected as Gilberto had his heart set on a move to Greece.

Arsenal's acting managing director Ken Friar is quoted as saying: "We have agreed to the transfer and signed the papers. It is now an official agreement.

"We had other offers but we respected Gilberto's desire to sign for Panathinaikos."
