Senderos Set to Milan Exit

Philippe Senderos is set to join AC Milan from Arsenal on a season-long loan with the Italians having the option to make the deal permanent for a fee believed to be between £5.5million and £6.3m.

The Switzerland defender is set for a medical at the San Siro on Tuesday morning, bringing an end to an often error-prone five-year stay at the north London club.

Senderos, 23, made 115 appearances for the Gunners after signing from Swiss club Servette for £2.5m in July 2003 and was part of his country's disappointing Euro 2008 campaign when the joint hosts went out in the group stage.

Senderos joins another Premier League cast-off at Milan, with Andriy Shevchenko undergoing a medical ahead of completing a return to the Italians from Chelsea.

The centre back's exit leaves Arsene Wenger's squad even more threadbare. The French boss has brought in experienced compatriot Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United to add cover for his young defence.

But Senderos's exit is likely to rule out a loan deal for compatriot Johan Djorou, who had been linked with a move to French club Rennes.
