Sensational Player To Join Gunners, But.....

Arsenal were interested in buying Andrei Arshavin but were not willing to meet his wage demands, says the player's agent.

Spurs have tracked the Russia playmaker all summer and a deal still could be done, although Zenit St Petersburg are holding out for around £20million.

And his agent Dennis Lachter has now revealed Arsenal made an enquiry about the plaer earlier in the summer.

'Wenger was serious about buying Arshavin,' Lachter told the Daily Express.

'If Andrei could have tempered his financial appetite, it was quite possible he would be playing at the Emirates right now.

'Arsenal were prepared to pay about £15million for him.

'(Arsene) Wenger is indeed a cunning fox who always says one thing and does the other. He wanted Andrei, but Arsenal are the only top English club who do not pay large salaries.'

So,what do you think gooners? Is Wenger made the right decision or should Wenger just follow the player's demand?

  1. I'm glad this never materialised, I don't buy into all this hype about this player. He had a good Euros (went missing in his country's final game) and has been doing well for Zenit St. Petersburg but very, very overhyped.

Whenever he's linked to someone on Sky Sports News (I love you Georgie Thompson lol) we are always shown the same clip of him, sure it was an amazing run and finish but I haven't seen a Nasri/Deco/Modric compilation...what I'm suggesting here is that he doesn't do that many spectacular things.

I wouldn't have cheered if he came to the Supergoons, I would just be thinking what a waste of money...that's why I want him to go to Spurs lol! For once, I'm happy with Le Professeur Wenger's prudence.

  2. Sorry I meant a Nasri/Deco/Modric-style compilation, none of those had just one solitary clip shown when they were linked to their new clubs.
