Gunners vs Devils : Who's Gonna Win?

Manchester United and Arsenal will battle for Portugal star Miguel Veloso in the January transfer window, according to the player's agent.

Paulo Barbosa claims the Premier League giants will launch a £22 million bid for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

The 22-year-old, who can play as a holding midfielder and in defence, was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Barbosa told the News of the World: “Arsenal and United are both always watching Veloso and making observations. He would cost either club at least 20 million euros.

"Arsenal want Veloso for the future and a deal could be done in the January window.

"But United are also watching the situation very closely."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be interested in a midfielder after the departures of Alexander Hleb, Gilberto Silva and Mathieu Flamini.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly frustrated by Owen Hargreaves' frequent injury problems. The England midfielder missed yesterday's 2-1 loss to Liverpool with a knee injury while Michael Carrick suffered an ankle injury at Anfield.

Veloso, who was in Portugal's Euro 2008 squad, is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

The midfielder, who joined Sporting in 2006, has also been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
