Arsenal Joined Race to Sign Lindegaard

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Aalesunds FK's Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, according to a report from talkSPORT.

Lindegaard, 26, has also been linked with a possible move to Manchester United, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is now understood to be keeping close tabs on the Danish international. Lindegaard, currently playing in Norway, is highly rated in his homeland and has been branded 'the new Peter Schmeichel' back in Denmark.

Wenger has been looking for a goalkeeper for some time, but was frustrated in his search when a move for Fulham's Mark Schwarzer during the summer transfer window eventually broke down.

Lindegaard is expected to assume the mantle of his country's No.1 when Thomas Sorensen retires.
