Arsenal Still A Threat This Season

Arsenal have had an average start this season however many people have wrote them off as not a threat to winning a title this season. Arsenals forward Gervinho believes that the Gunners can still make a decent challenge for trophies and championships both this season and also in the future regardless of the loss of some key players in the Arsenal kit.

Gervinho recently completed a transfer of around the ten million pound mark in the summer from France, Lille which was quite a big challenge for the French player however he has revealed that he has really enjoyed playing for Arsenal FC this season and is very happy to be wearing the Arsenal shirt.

It has certainly not been the best start for Arsenal this season but there is still plenty of time to turn it all around and with a team as talented as Arsenals there is every chance they will be able to do this.

On a very similar note Gervinho also did not have the best start at Arsenal this season either as he was sent off on his first Premiership Match against Newcastle United after having a physical altercation with Joey Barton (who proved to be a very good actor more than a good football player in this match). Gervino is confident all this has been put behind him now and of course was very disappointed in the sequence of events but is now looking to the future of his time at Arsenal.

Moving forward it looks like Arsenal will need to start working together as a team more effectively if they want to be competing for titles, however with the great attitude that new player Gervinho seems to have, Arsenal still are in with a fighting chance of surprising everybody.

Per Mertesacker Signed For Arsenal

Arsenal FC have left a few of their transfers to the very last minute of the deadline however what appears to be happening is the signing of the German player Per Mertesacker and the deal is believed to be worth around the ten million pounds mark.

This move follows Andre Santos and appears that Arsenal are after more experience among their squad rather than up and coming youth players this season. This is in many ways a smart move as it these experienced and season ed players can help give the Arsenal team some much needed maturity and big match knowledge.

Mertesacker is a very dominating presence on the football pitch standing a massive 6 foot 6 inches which will no doubt strengthen the Arsenal defence which really does needs big improvements. With such a large sized player, Arsenal is going to have to custom make one of the biggest Arsenal kit and Arsenal shirt for the new German defender.

In terms of experience the German has some superb achievements under his belt and that includes 75 caps playing for Germany. Furthermore he has also played in the Bundesliga for a full 8 seasons, accumulating a total of 221 appearances and most impressively scoring 19 goals.

Of course this deal is not 100% finalized yet however it appears that is everything but a done deal and will become 'official in the next 24 hours. With the highly publicized thrashing Arsenal suffered recently to the hands of Manchester United it does seem like a very good move to bring in this caliber of talent to strengthen the Arsenal squad as a whole.
